The story of "Luna Lovegood wand"

Luna Lovegood's second wand was not chosen by her, as is usually the case, but was made especially for her by Mr Ollivander. This makes her the only person besides Peter Pettigrew to have been given this honour.

When Luna was kidnapped by Death Eaters in 1997, they also took her first wand. She shared her prison in the dungeons of the Malfoys' country estate with Garrick Ollivander. The two formed a bond during their time of need, as Luna was able to offer him much comfort during this difficult time.

In the spring of 1998, Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley were also captured by Death Eaters and taken to the Malfoys' country estate. This led to Dobby, the Malfoys' former house-elf, coming to their rescue.

Dobby took Mr Ollivander and Luna Lovegood to Shell Cottage, the home of Bill and Fleur Weasley, during the conflict. As a thank you, Mr Ollivander made a new wand for Luna.

She practised with it while she was at Shell Cottage before using it at the Battle of Hogwarts. There she fights alongside Ginny and Hermione against Bellatrix Lestrange, but even together they are unable to bring her to her knees.

Like most students at Hogwarts, Luna probably received her first wand from Mr Ollivander before she started school. Unlike most witches and wizards, she did not carry her wand hidden under her cloak most of the time, but liked to tuck it behind her left ear.

She used this wand during the exercises of the secret meetings of Dumbledore's Army, which Harry organised together with Ron and Hermione in 1995. Among other things, she learnt from Harry how to conjure a Patronus in the shape of a rabbit. She also uses this wand when she helps Harry fight in the Department of Mysteries at the Ministry of Magic.

Alongside Hermione's, her first wand is one of the few that does not have a clearly defined handle. The wand is decorated with an acorn pattern, which could indicate that it was made from oak wood.

Oak wands are chosen by brave and loyal witches and wizards. It is less well known that their owners have a strong intuition and a close connection to magical creatures and plants. This would fit Luna's character, but has not been confirmed.

Luna's second wand is made of a brown wood and the design was inspired by a tulip, a flower symbolising spring, fitting for the time of Luna's liberation.
